Hi! My name is Sonya Ulman, and I am currently a senior in high school. I am in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school. I was born in Texas, but moved all over the world during my childhood.
At the beginning of high school, I became interested in mental health, particularly mental illness or serious mental illness. The thought of how many people today battle with it, and how mental health struggles and mental illnesses are often exacerbated by social media and technology is extremely concerning. I want to become a policymaker or a policy advocate, so it’s interesting to explore new policies and programs that help with mental illnesses. I hope that you learn something today! 🙂
Youth in Government is a club I’m really passionate about so I tend to blog a lot about it and my experiences at State Assembly as well. I’ve written bills on mental health and mental illness in YIG, continuing to expand my passion for improving the conditions for those (especially youth!) who struggle with mental health.
